Anwar, who struggled to support his family with his meager earnings, faced a dark period when his wife was diagnosed with cancer. Determined to save her, he sold household possessions, took on significant debts, and sought help from others. His relentless efforts paid off, and after prolonged treatment, his wife recovered and returned home, bringing renewed hope and joy to their family. Neighbors praised Anwar’s dedication, calling him an exemplary husband.
However, this happiness was short-lived. On the night of May 13, his wife abruptly left the family, reportedly eloping with another man, abandoning her husband and five children. Anwar, now left to care for his children alone, shared his grief, saying, “I gave everything for her. I brought her back from the clutches of cancer, but she left me. My children cry for their mother every day, and I don’t know what to tell them.”
Locals report that the children, devastated by their mother’s absence, cry daily and are reluctant to attend school. While some community members console Anwar, urging him to stay strong for his children’s future, others are shocked by his wife Nasrin’s actions. Her departure, nearly four months ago, continues to spark heated discussions and criticism in the community.
Many view Anwar’s sacrifices as a rare example of love and devotion, while Nasrin’s abandonment is seen as a disturbing societal signal. Though Anwar has nearly given up hope of his wife’s return, he is trying to rebuild his life for the sake of his children.
Local Union Parishad member Jasim Uddin Majumdar stated, “Anwar took loans and sought help to fund his wife’s treatment, and she recovered and returned home. But a few days later, Nasrin left with another man, abandoning her five children. We tried to bring her back, but it wasn’t possible.”
Nangalkot Police Station Officer-in-Charge AK Fazlul Haque said, “I learned about the incident through your inquiry. No case or complaint has been filed at the police station regarding this matter.”
