According to police, the trio was presented in court on Friday (September 12) in connection with an extortion case, and the court ordered their detention in jail. Authorities recovered 430,000 BDT from them. Police stated that Noman, Tanzil, and Faria were extorting money by promising to secure exemptions from legal cases. On Thursday night, posing as coordinators, they entered a residence on Road 6, Sector 13 in Uttara and demanded 10 million BDT from an individual named Delowar Hossain, claiming it was for case exemptions. They collected 550,000 BDT and left after setting a deadline for the remaining amount.
The police further reported that the three were intimidating Delowar Hossain’s family members in various ways. Following a complaint filed by the family at Uttara West Police Station, Noman Reza was first arrested near the Airport Police Station on Thursday night. Based on his information, Tanzil Hossain and Faria Akter Toma were apprehended from the Jasim Uddin area in Uttara at 3:40 AM.
