Uncle and Nephew Hacked to Death in Kushtia’s Daulatpur Over Dominance Dispute

In a violent clash over establishing dominance, miscreants hacked an uncle and his nephew to death in the Baguan Kandipara Bazar area of Mathurapur Union, Daulatpur Upazila, Kushtia. Four others were injured in the incident.

The attack took place around 12:30 AM on Tuesday (September 9, 2025). The deceased have been identified as Sarfan Sardar (50), son of the late Hamer Sardar, and his nephew Baizid Sardar (35), son of the late Bichar Sardar, both from the same village. The four injured individuals are receiving treatment at a local hospital, with two reported to be in critical condition.

According to local sources, on Tuesday night, members of a rival group called Sarfan Sardar out of his home and took him to a nearby bamboo grove, where they hacked his legs and slit his throat, killing him on the spot. Upon receiving the news, Baizid Sardar and his supporters rushed to the scene, where they were also attacked. Baizid, critically injured, was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Sarfan Sardar’s daughter, Mim Khatun, alleged, “At night, my father was called out of the house and taken to a nearby bamboo grove, where the rival group hacked his legs and slit his throat, killing him.”

Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Solaiman Sheikh confirmed that the killings were due to a dispute over dominance. “The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy,” he said. He added that additional police forces have been deployed to control the situation in the area, and 3-4 individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident.
