According to police, the youth succumbed to injuries from the mob beating in the morning after being left on the ground. Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Razzak of Madhupur Police Station, who was involved in recovering the body, confirmed the incident, adding that the identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
Local residents Al Amin and Mizanur Rahman Sentu stated that around 3 a.m., three individuals arrived on a motorcycle and entered the premises of Dudu Mia, son of Jasim, in Holudia Purbo Para to steal a battery-operated auto-rickshaw. Sensing trouble, locals chased the suspects, apprehending one while the other two escaped. The enraged mob beat the captured individual, leaving him severely injured. He died in the morning. Police later arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and took it to the police station.
Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emranul Kabir said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The body has been sent for autopsy, and legal action will be taken following an investigation.
