In a startling turn of events in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, Tania Begum (21), a housewife presumed dead, reappeared alive and presented herself in court three months after a murder and body concealment case was filed against her husband and his family. Adding to the drama, she filed for divorce from her husband, Delwar Hossain, in court, causing widespread shock in the local community.
Three months ago, Tania’s sister, Rina Akhtar, had filed a murder case against Tania’s husband, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and four other family members, alleging that they killed Tania and disposed of her body. The accused had been in hiding since the case was filed. However, on Sunday (September 7), Tania appeared in court in person and divorced her husband, Delwar Hossain. The incident was confirmed by local Union Parishad member Nizam Uddin.
According to family sources, Tania married Delwar Hossain, son of Mohammad Ullah Bepari from Char Kadira Union in Kamalnagar, three years ago. Their married life had been marred by frequent disputes. On the night of June 9, Tania went missing from her in-laws’ house. Subsequently, on June 13, Rina filed a murder case in court.
Tania’s father-in-law, Mohammad Ullah Bepari, claimed that some influential local individuals conspired to file a false case against their family, causing them significant social and financial harm. With Tania’s return, they are now demanding justice and compensation for the ordeal.
Kamalnagar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tahidul Islam stated, “No one has formally informed us about the matter yet. If legal assistance is sought, necessary actions will be taken.”
