A student of Comilla University and her mother were allegedly strangled to death at their residence, reportedly due to a family dispute. The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday (September 7) around 11 PM.
The deceased student has been identified as Sumaiya Akter, a student of the 16th batch in the Public Administration Department at Comilla University. Her mother was Tahmin Begum.
The victim’s brother informed the police about the murders by calling the national emergency service number 999. Subsequently, police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies to the morgue.
Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahinul Islam stated, “We responded to the call and visited the site. The bodies have been sent to the morgue. No formal complaint has been filed yet, but we will investigate and take necessary actions.”
Comilla University’s Proctor, Professor Dr. Abdul Hakim, said, “We are looking into the matter and will decide on the next steps after gathering more information.”
