Bangladesh Police Clarifies Stance on Motorcycle Snatching Incident on Dhaka’s 300-Feet Road

 

Bangladesh Police has issued a statement clarifying its response to a motorcycle snatching incident on Dhaka’s 300-Feet Road. The statement was posted on the verified Facebook page of Bangladesh Police on Friday (September 12) afternoon.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night on the Bhulta-Gausia Road under Rupganj Police Station. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing several individuals on three motorcycles intercepting a bike. One of the assailants is seen approaching with a machete.

According to Bangladesh Police, a viral video on social media depicted an attack and robbery targeting motorcyclists Jisan and Faisal in Rupganj. The police took immediate action in response to the incident.

The statement explained that within 10 minutes of receiving a call to the national emergency hotline 999 from a truck helper, a police team arrived at the scene and rescued the injured victims. The victims were initially taken to a nearby hospital for primary treatment and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital via ambulance for advanced care. The police also recovered a motorcycle abandoned by the robbers at the scene.

A case has been filed at Rupganj Police Station immediately after the incident, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen items, the police added.
