On Thursday, September 4, investigators from the ACC sent official letters to the police, stating that both Sheikh Hasina and Joy have allegedly fled abroad. Citing court-issued arrest warrants, the ACC emphasized the need to locate and bring the accused back to Bangladesh to face justice.
The letters include court orders, arrest warrants, copies of the FIR, charge sheets, and a filled draft of the Interpol Red Notice form. Authorities have been requested to take the necessary steps accordingly.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was cross-examined at International Crimes Tribunal-1 in Dhaka. He previously testified that Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal were directly responsible for crimes against humanity during the July uprising, including mass killings.
The cross-examination began at 11:35 AM, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumder. Former IGP Mamun was questioned by state-appointed defense counsel Md. Amir Hossain, representing Hasina and Kamal. The session followed Mamun's earlier testimony and partial cross-examination on September 2, with the remaining part scheduled after a request on September 3.
