Md. Selim was the son of the late Daner Sheikh, a resident of Horgoj Purbonagar village.
According to family sources, on Tuesday morning, before heading to work, Selim had an altercation with his wife. During the argument, he reportedly smashed household utensils. After his wife left for her workplace, Selim called her around 10:00 AM to apologize for the last time. Shortly afterward, he consumed poison.
Family members, upon realizing the situation, rushed Selim to Saturia Sadar Hospital. He passed away around 1:00 PM while undergoing treatment. Although the family took the body home, police were informed, recovered the body, and sent it to the morgue for an autopsy.
Saturia Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinul Islam said, “Upon receiving the information, we sent a team to the scene. The body was recovered and sent for autopsy. Necessary legal actions will be taken once the final report is received. A case of unnatural death has been filed in connection with the incident.” The tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the local community.
