A shocking incident of brutal torture has surfaced at Nirala Residential Hotel in Bajirmor, Narsingdi, where Alamgir Hossain (30), an employee, was viciously assaulted by Jahid Sarker (28), the son of the hotel owner. The incident, which occurred on Saturday (August 30), came to light on Monday (August 31) after a video of the torture went viral on social media.
Jahid Sarker, a resident of Bouyakur in Narsingdi and son of hotel owner Jahangir Sarker, is accused of orchestrating the assault. The victim, Alamgir Hossain, hails from Baniachal in Narsingdi and is the son of Harish Miya.
Local sources report that Alamgir was employed to manage Jahangir Sarker’s “Nirala Harin Bari” farm. Recently, a generator battery was stolen from the farm, and Jahid suspected Alamgir’s involvement. As a result, Alamgir was summoned to the hotel, where Jahid and his associates tied his neck with a rope to a window grill and beat him with an iron pipe. They also stabbed him repeatedly with a sharp knife, leaving him bloodied. Additionally, another individual named Shakil from the same area was assaulted.
According to locals, Jahid forced Shakil to beat Alamgir with the pipe and recorded the torture on video. The severely injured Alamgir was later sent home through Shakil. His family took him to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where doctors referred him to Mugda Medical College Hospital in Dhaka, where he is currently receiving treatment.
On Monday night, Alamgir’s father, Harish Miya, filed a case at Narsingdi Model Police Station, naming Jahid Sarker as the prime accused, along with Siam, Al Amin, and Shakil as co-accused.
Harish Miya stated, “My son was locked in a hotel room, tied by the neck with a rope to a window, and beaten with an iron pipe. They stabbed him from neck to foot, leaving him bloodied. His blood-stained clothes were removed, and he was dressed in decorator’s clothes before being sent home through Shakil. I heard they burned his bloodied clothes. They also threatened to kill him if we sought medical help or went to the police.”
Alamgir’s mother, Samala Khatun, said, “My son begged for his life, but they showed no mercy. They broke both his hands and stabbed him all over. We are poor and cannot match their power. I demand justice for this.”
Narsingdi Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emdadul Haque confirmed that a case has been filed, and police operations to arrest the accused are ongoing. Attempts to contact hotel owner Jahangir Sarker and his son Jahid Sarker were unsuccessful as they did not respond to calls.
