OC Hafizur stated that the US Embassy in Dhaka took custody of the body without an autopsy. According to police, Jackson had arrived in Bangladesh a few months ago for business purposes and checked into Hotel Westin on Saturday, August 30.
He further said, “On Sunday afternoon, when Jackson did not emerge from his room, hotel authorities called out to him but received no response. Subsequently, in the presence of police and US Embassy officials, the room’s door was opened, and he was found lying inside.” Embassy officials, including a doctor, examined the body and, presuming a natural death, took it into their custody without an autopsy.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), and other investigative units were present at the scene.
