Police recovered the body of Dr. Amirul Islam, the convenor of the Natore district branch of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), with his throat slit at the Madrasa Movie Private Janaseba Hospital in Natore town. The incident occurred on Monday, September 1, 2025, around 2:30 PM when police broke open the door of his room to find the body.
According to hospital authorities and police sources, Dr. Amirul’s room remained locked for an extended period, and there was no response from him. Hospital staff attempted to call out to him, but upon receiving no answer, they informed the police. A hospital staff member, Alamin, stated that Dr. Amirul often stayed overnight at the hospital after performing surgeries and slept in a reserved room. He usually woke up around noon, but today, when he did not emerge, staff called out to him. Receiving no response, they broke open the door and discovered his body with his throat slit.
Natore Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman said, “The door was locked from the inside, making the discovery of his throat-slit body suspicious. We have collected CCTV footage and are conducting interrogations to unravel the mystery behind this murder.”
Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Member Secretary of DAB’s Natore district branch, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.
