The fire broke out in the morning near the Patachhara Union Parishad office along the Ramgarh-Jaliapara road.
According to locals, the fire originated from an electrical short circuit at Abul Mia’s cooling corner. Within moments, the flames spread to adjacent shops, leaving traders no chance to save their goods. Many shop owners were left destitute after losing both merchandise and cash.
Although the fire service rushed to the spot, the shops could not be saved.
Ramgarh Fire Service Station Officer Bishantor Barua said preliminary investigations suggest that the fire started from an electrical short circuit.
