The deceased were identified as Chaydul Haque (59) and his wife Bibi Mariam (55), residents of Abdur Jabbar Bhuiyan’s house in the same union. The couple were parents to six sons and three daughters.
According to locals, Chaydul Haque suddenly fell ill around 5 pm at his residence. He was rushed to local physician Ratan Sutradhar at Kankirhat Bazar, where doctors declared him dead.
While returning home with her husband’s body in a battery-run auto-rickshaw, Bibi Mariam suffered a stroke on the Kankirhat-Hasanpur road. She collapsed and was taken to the same physician, who also declared her dead.
Union Parishad member Abu Taleb Tipu said the couple were buried at their family graveyard at 9 am on Friday (September 5). The tragic deaths have cast a pall of grief across the entire area, leaving locals and family members devastated.
