Youth Killed in Stabbing Incident in Sreepur, Gazipur: Two Arrested

 A young man named Jewel (25) was killed in a stabbing incident in Sreepur, Gazipur. According to sources, the incident stemmed from a dispute over sleeping arrangements under a flyover. Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident and recovered a blood-stained knife used in the crime.

The incident occurred around 3:00 AM on Friday (August 8) in the Mawna Chowrasta area of Sreepur.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rakib (25) and Robin (27).

Mohammad Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station, stated that on Friday night, a group of youths went to sleep near a temporary tea stall named "Golpo Chorar Cha Ghor" under the Mawna flyover. A verbal altercation broke out between Jewel, Rakib, and Robin over sleeping on a jute mat, which escalated into a physical scuffle. During the altercation, a knife in Rakib’s possession pierced Jewel’s chest. Additionally, Robin sustained a cut on his hand.

Local residents rescued Jewel and took him to a hospital in Mawna Chowrasta. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex for advanced treatment. There, the on-duty doctor examined him and declared him dead. Upon receiving the news, police patrolling in the Mawna Chowrasta area arrived at the scene and arrested the two suspects.

The OC added that both the deceased and the arrested individuals were homeless and known to be involved in various criminal activities centered around the Mawna Chowrasta area. The police have initiated an investigation, and legal action is being taken.
