Youth Killed in Mob Lynching Over Theft Allegations in Natore’s Singra

 

A young man named Akram Hossain (18) succumbed to injuries in Singra Upazila Health Complex on Friday afternoon following a mob lynching over allegations of theft, according to hospital sources. The deceased was a resident of Parsinga Mahalla in Singra municipal town and the son of the late Yunus Ali.

According to reports, around 3 PM on Friday, local residents in the Patkol Goruhati area allegedly beat Akram Hossain on suspicion of theft. He was later rescued and admitted to the Singra Upazila Health Complex, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Dr. Shamima Afroz, the attending physician at the health complex, stated, “Akram was brought to the hospital in an injured state, and he passed away during treatment.”

Singra Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed via phone, “Upon receiving the news, we sent police to the scene. Legal action will be taken if a case is filed.”

However, sources from Akram’s family revealed that he was involved in drug abuse and theft. They stated that the mob attack, triggered by theft allegations, led to his death.

The incident has caused tension in the area, and police have been deployed to maintain order at the scene.
