Two Brothers Killed in Bus-CNG Auto-Rickshaw Collision in Shajahanpur, Bogura

 In a tragic incident, two brothers were killed, and three others, including their two maternal uncles, were injured when a bus collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Shajahanpur Upazila, Bogura. The accident occurred around midnight on Friday (August 8, 2025) on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway near Prayas School in the Majhira Union.

Shajahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam Polash confirmed the incident. The deceased have been identified as Md. Akash (25) and Md. Arif (21), sons of Hazrat Ali from Banmaricha village in Sherpur Upazila. The injured are Haider Ali (50), Abdul Aziz (38), both sons of the late Amjad Sarker, and Md. Polash (35), son of Abdul Bari, all from the same village.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the auto-rickshaw was traveling from Bogura city towards Sherpur Upazila. At around 12:20 AM, near Prayas School, it collided head-on with a bus coming from the opposite direction. The impact severely damaged the auto-rickshaw, killing Akash on the spot. Fire Service personnel rescued four critically injured individuals and rushed them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital in Bogura, where doctors declared Arif dead. The other injured individuals are currently receiving treatment. Eyewitnesses believe Polash was likely the driver of the auto-rickshaw.

OC Shafiqul Islam Polash stated that the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and the bus fled the scene immediately after the collision. The highway police will take necessary legal action regarding the incident.
