Gang Rape Accusation in Shibganj, Bogura: Two Arrested, Two Absconding

 In a shocking incident in Shibganj Upazila, Bogura, a housewife was allegedly gang-raped after her husband was tied up. The incident took place on Wednesday night (August 6, 2025) at a disabled person’s office in Mokamtala. Following a case filed by the victim’s husband against four individuals, police arrested two suspects on Thursday night. The arrested individuals were sent to Bogura District Jail through the court on Friday afternoon.

Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman Shahin confirmed that the victim was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital in Bogura for a medical examination on Friday afternoon.

The arrested individuals are Abu Sufiyan Zakir (40), son of Hafizur Rahman from Muradpur Dakshinpara village, and Millat Hossain (35), son of Shahjahan Islam from Par Anchalai Madhyapara village, both in Shibganj Upazila. The absconding suspects are Faruk Hossain (40) from Muradpur Uttarpara village, Shibganj Upazila, and Azhar Ali (50) from Gobindaganj, Gaibandha.

According to police and case sources, on Wednesday night, the accused forcibly took the housewife and her husband from Kumargari village in Gobindaganj Upazila, Gaibandha, in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. They were brought to a disabled person’s office in Mokamtala, Shibganj, where the husband was tied up, and the four accused allegedly gang-raped the housewife.

The victim’s husband filed a case against the four individuals at Shibganj Police Station on Thursday night. Following the complaint, police conducted raids and arrested Zakir and Millat. OC Shahinuzzaman Shahin stated on Friday afternoon that operations are ongoing to apprehend the absconding suspects, Faruk and Azhar.
