The deceased fisherman, Idris Hawladar, was identified by his son-in-law, Mohammad Sagor. Idris was a resident of West Madhukhali village in Kalapara upazila, Patuakhali, and the son of Yusuf Ali Hawladar.
According to local sources and police, on July 25, the trawler ‘FB Sagarkanya’ sank in the Bay of Bengal, approximately 75 kilometers from the last buoy, while carrying 15 fishermen. After floating in the sea for four days, 10 fishermen were rescued alive. On August 1, the body of another fisherman, Nazrul Islam, was found at the Mira Bari point of Kuakata beach. Three fishermen remain missing.
Fisherman Sohel reported that locals informed the police after spotting the trawler washing ashore. During the high tide, the trawler tilted due to strong waves, causing the body to surface.
Bikash Mondal, officer-in-charge of Kuakata Naval Police Outpost, stated, “The trawler and the body have been recovered. Legal procedures are underway, and the body will be handed over to the family after completion.”
