Police have recovered the body of a 35-year-old man named Babu from Harirampur Bil in Buripota Union, Meherpur Sadar Upazila.On Thursday (August 7) afternoon, locals spotted the body and informed the police, who subsequently arrived at the scene and retrieved the body. Babu was the son of the late Shukur Ali from the Hotel Bazar area of Meherpur.
Local sources suggest that Babu had gone toward the India-Bangladesh border area. It is suspected that he drowned while attempting to cross the border illegally.
Meherpur Sadar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mezbah Uddin confirmed that the body has been sent to the morgue of Meherpur 250-Bed General Hospital for an autopsy. An investigation into the incident is underway.
