On Wednesday (August 6) morning, the body of a woman was found near the Baro Sharif Darbar in the Courtpara area, adjacent to Kushtia Model Police Station. Her identity could not be immediately established. Local residents spotted the body near the darbar and informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Kushtia Model Police Station personnel arrived at the scene, prepared a preliminary inquest report, and sent the body to Kushtia General Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Mosharraf Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station, said, “We received the information in the morning and promptly recovered the body from the scene. We are examining whether there are any visible injury marks on the deceased. Our primary and immediate task is to identify the victim.” He added that messages have been sent to surrounding areas and locals are being questioned to ascertain the woman’s identity.
The recovery of an unidentified woman’s body from a well-known area near the Baro Sharif Darbar has caused significant unrest and fear among the local community.
In a separate incident on the same day, Mirpur Upazila Police recovered the body of another unidentified woman from the Mirpur Upazila Health Complex. Her identity remains unknown, and efforts are underway to determine her name and background. Mominul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station, confirmed that the body has been sent to Kushtia General Hospital’s morgue for a postmortem.
Police stated that the exact cause of death will be determined once the autopsy reports are received and the identities of the deceased are confirmed. Two unnatural death cases have been filed at Kushtia Model and Mirpur police stations in connection with these incidents.
The recovery of these bodies has heightened tension in the area, and police are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify the victims.
