According to police, Tapan Rudra, a resident of Purba Chambal village, worked at a salon in the Miar Dokan area but left his job due to his drug addiction, rendering him unemployed. On Tuesday evening, Tapan demanded money from his father, Dulal Rudra, to buy drugs. When his father refused, an enraged Tapan attacked him with a machete, severely injuring him. Locals rescued Dulal and took him to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex. Due to his critical condition, he was transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 PM. Following the incident, locals detained Tapan and handed him over to the police.
Banshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Saiful Islam confirmed that the accused has been arrested. The body has been sent to Chittagong Medical College for a postmortem. Necessary legal actions are being taken in connection with the case.
