Love transcends race, culture, and borders, and a heartwarming example of this is unfolding in Dinajpur’s Biral Upazila, Ranipukur Union’s Kajipara Shimultala village. A young Chinese man, Young Song Song (26), is set to tie the knot with his Bangladeshi beloved, Survi Akter (19), creating a buzz in the local community. Curious crowds have been flocking to Survi’s home to catch a glimpse of the Chinese groom-to-be after the news spread like wildfire.
Young Song Song, a construction engineer by profession, hails from Jiangsu province in China. His father, the late Yuan Siki, and his mother, Liu Fenhong, raised him there. About a year ago, Song connected with Survi Akter through the virtual platform Hello Talk. Survi, the daughter of autorickshaw driver Nur Hossain Babu and homemaker Sathi Akter from Kajipara Shimultala village, is one of two sisters.
According to Song and Survi, their virtual friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship over time. Drawn by love, Song traveled from China to Bangladesh on August 4 and arrived at Survi’s home on the evening of August 10.
Survi’s family and local residents stated that Song’s identity and documents are currently under review. If everything is found to be in order, the marriage between Survi and Young Song Song will proceed. The event has sparked immense excitement and curiosity in the area, with locals eagerly awaiting the cross-cultural union.
