Both Zakir and Mizan were around 40 years old. Their bodies were discovered inside the car on Monday afternoon. Police noted that various parts of their bodies were swollen. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the deaths were due to homicide or other causes.
According to a hospital source, the car entered the hospital’s parking garage around 5:35 AM on Sunday, as per the hospital’s record book. It had been parked in a corner of the third basement level since then.
Mizanur Rahman, the hospital’s security in-charge, stated that around noon on Monday, he went to the third basement level to check for available parking spaces. He noticed two individuals inside the car and called out to them several times but received no response. Upon opening the car door, he found that both individuals were deceased. He informed the hospital authorities, who then notified the police.
Mizanur added that one of the deceased was in the driver’s seat, with the seat reclined, while the other was in the back seat behind the driver.
Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam of the Ramna Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed that Zakir was the driver of the car, and Mizan was his relative. Speaking to journalists at the scene on Monday afternoon, he said, “We have identified the car’s owner, Saurav, who is also from Chatkhil in Noakhali. The deceased are from the same area. Initial information suggests they came to the hospital to pick up a patient.”
The Crime Investigation Department (CID) forensic team visited the site and collected evidence. Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam added that the bodies have been sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy, and further details will be provided once the investigation is complete.
