The victim, Asma Akter, was the wife of local farmer Alomgir Hossain Hawlader and a mother of three sons.
Inspector Md. Enamul Haque of the Telikhali police outpost said Asma was alone in the house and had just finished her prayers when the assailants attacked her. She was found lying in a pool of blood on the floor, near her prayer mat.
According to her cousin and local UP member Md. Shahidul Islam, Asma’s daughter-in-law entered the room after performing ablution and discovered her mother-in-law’s bloodied body. Police recovered the body around 9:30 PM and sent it for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhandaria Police Station, Md. Jahangir Hossain, stated, “We are yet to uncover the motive behind the killing. A thorough investigation is underway.”
