Gang Rape in Kushtia's Bheramara: 5 Suspects Arrested

A housewife was subjected to a gang rape in Bheramara Upazila of Kushtia, allegedly by four men in front of her husband. Five suspects have been arrested by Bheramara Police Station in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred on Saturday (August 2) around 10:30 PM in the Moslempur area of Bahirchar Union, Bheramara Upazila.

According to police, the victim, a hotel worker, had recently been sacked from her job. She was traveling with her husband on a van to collect her dues from the hotel. Around 10:30 PM, when they reached Moslempur, a group of young men intercepted their van. The couple was forcibly taken to a nearby lychee orchard, where the husband was restrained, and four men allegedly raped the woman one after another. Hearing their screams, locals approached the scene, causing the perpetrators to flee. With the help of locals, the couple reached Bheramara Police Station.

Abdur Rob Talukder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station, confirmed the incident and stated that an immediate operation led to the arrest of five suspects. Initial interrogations have revealed evidence of direct involvement of three of them. The couple is currently in police custody, and preparations are underway for the victim’s medical examination.
