At least 25 people were injured in a collision involving four passenger buses on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar Upazila, Madaripur. The accident occurred around 9:30 AM on Saturday (August 30) in the Panchchar area. The injured were promptly admitted to local clinics and the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahirul Islam confirmed the incident, stating that the accident began when one passenger bus rear-ended another. Subsequently, two more buses approaching from behind lost control and collided with the buses ahead, resulting in damage to a total of four buses.
He further noted that highway police and local residents immediately launched rescue operations. Through their combined efforts, traffic on the Dhaka-bound lane was restored within a short time. The injured were quickly transported to hospitals for medical care, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
