The Bangladesh Army uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing factory in the jungle of Chhinnamul area, Salimspur Union, Sitakunda Upazila, Chittagong. On Saturday (August 30), based on specific intelligence, a special operation led to the recovery of six homemade weapons and various arms-making equipment, with four individuals arrested in connection to the incident.
The arrested individuals are:
Kamrul Hasan Redowan (35), son of Foyez Ahmad from Chanua village, Banshkhali Upazila
Roman (25), son of Nur Alam from Fakirjhum area, Moheshkhali Upazila, Cox’s Bazar
Ashik (35), son of Mohammad Morshed from Jungle Salimspur No. 4 Samaj, Sitakunda
Amir Islam (40), son of Joynal Abedin from Hatiya Upazila, Noakhali
According to the Bangladesh Army, the operation targeted a clandestine arms factory. The recovered items include:
6 homemade firearms
35 rounds of empty cartridges
5 rounds of live cartridges
1 Chinese axe
20 knives
2 walkie-talkie chargers
1 megaphone
4 parachute flares
Various arms-making tools and equipment
The arrested individuals are being handed over to the Sitakunda Model Police Station. The Officer-in-Charge (Acting) of the station, Mujibur Rahman, confirmed the incident and stated that legal actions are being taken.
