A 70-year-old man named Harun was brutally beaten by locals and handed over to the police after attempting to rape a five-year-old girl in the Delpara Towerpara area of Fatullah, Narayanganj. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Harun, a mason by profession and son of the late Joynal Abedin from Delpara Towerpara, allegedly lured the young girl from a neighboring house into an under-construction building. According to eyewitnesses, locals heard the child’s cries and caught Harun in the act. Enraged, they beat him before police arrived, arrested him, and sent the child to a hospital for medical attention.
Fatullah Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sharifful Islam confirmed that Harun was rescued from the mob and received medical treatment. The child was also examined by doctors. A case will be filed regarding the incident, the OC added.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with residents demanding strict punishment for the accused.
