Sheikh Bashiruddin, Advisor for Civil Aviation and Tourism and Commerce, announced that international flight operations at Cox’s Bazar Airport are scheduled to commence by mid-October. He stated that preparations are progressing rapidly to meet this target. Approximately 80% of the construction work for the international terminal building has already been completed.
The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon following an on-site inspection of the ongoing development work at Cox’s Bazar Airport.
Prior to the inspection, Sheikh Bashiruddin held a meeting with airport authorities and project officials. He later toured various sections of the international terminal building and discussed progress with relevant stakeholders.
In response to a question from journalists, Sheikh Bashiruddin revealed that international flights will initially operate with a single aircraft, with plans to gradually increase the number of flights. Efforts will be made to offer tickets at attractive prices to draw passengers.
During the inspection, the advisor was accompanied by Air Vice Marshal Md. Mustafa Mahmud Siddique, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Begum Nasreen Jahan, Secretary of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, Mohammad Salahuddin, Cox’s Bazar District Administrator, and senior officials from various departments.
