Charge Framing Order in Abu Sayed Murder Case Set for August 6

 The International Crimes Tribunal-2 is set to deliver its order on the framing of charges in the case of crimes against humanity related to the murder of Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, during the July-August 2024 uprising. The order will be issued today, Wednesday (August 6), by a three-member judicial panel led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.

Six accused individuals in this case have been brought before the tribunal. They are:

  • Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Hossain

  • Former Proctor of Begum Rokeya University, Shariful Islam

  • Constable Sujan Chandra Roy

  • Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury

  • Rafiul Hasan Russel

  • Anwar Parvez

Earlier, on July 30, the International Crimes Tribunal fixed August 6 as the date for the charge framing order in this case. Notably, on July 22, the tribunal declared 24 individuals, including the former Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University and the former Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, as absconding.

Meanwhile, in related developments, eight individuals in a case involving the burning of six bodies in Ashulia and three individuals in a case concerning the killing of five people in Lakshmipur have been presented before the tribunal.
