Body of Missing Fisherman Recovered After Trawler Capsizes in Bay of Bengal, 4 Still Missing

The body of one of the five missing fishermen from a trawler capsized near Kuakata in the Bay of Bengal has been recovered by the river police. The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam, 60. His body was recovered around 9:30 AM on Friday from the Mira Point area, confirmed Bikash Mondal, in-charge of the Kuakata River Police Outpost.

According to river police sources, they were alerted by locals about the presence of a body on the shore. Upon arrival, they found the body of a man wearing a black raincoat. Nazrul’s son later identified the body. It was then handed over to the Mohipur Police Station for further procedures.

The trawler had capsized on July 25 while fishing in deep sea with 15 fishermen on board. After four days adrift at sea, 10 fishermen were rescued alive by other fishing boats. The remaining five had been missing since then.

With the recovery of Nazrul Islam’s body, four fishermen are still unaccounted for. Search operations are ongoing, involving both river police and local fishermen.
