The Dhaka court has set September 29 as the new date for submitting the investigation report in the case filed at Motijheel Police Station regarding the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist. On Tuesday (August 26), Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain made this decision, marking the 88th deferral of the probe report submission.
The report was scheduled to be submitted on this day, but the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the agency handling the case, failed to present it, prompting the court to fix a new date.
According to case details, on February 5, 2016, hackers stole USD 81 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In response, on March 15, 2016, Zobayer Bin Huda, Deputy Director of the Accounts and Budgeting Department of Bangladesh Bank, filed a case under the Money Laundering Prevention Act at Motijheel Police Station, naming unidentified individuals as accused.
