The teachers’ three-point demands are:
Fixing the entry-level salary of primary school assistant teachers at the 11th grade.
Filling all vacant head teacher positions through 100% promotion.
Not counting the upgraded scale as a higher grade for the provision of higher grades after 10 and 16 years of service.
Mohammad Shamsuddin Masud, convener of the Primary Assistant Teachers’ Organization Unity Council and president of the Bangladesh Primary School Assistant Teachers’ Association, said, “If we do not receive a clear commitment from the government by today, we will be compelled to announce tougher programs from this rally.” He further informed that representatives from various political parties, including BNP, Jamaat, NCP, Ganosamhati Andolan, and Gonoadhikar Parishad, are participating in the rally.
