According to local sources, on February 28, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal announced a death sentence against Sayeedi in a war crimes case. At that time, Md. Ehsan Hiron, the organizational secretary of Balipara Union Awami League, publicly celebrated and distributed sweets. Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, Hiron went into hiding. On Saturday night, locals spotted him in Ghosharhat Bazar, detained him, fed him sweets, and then beat him. Upon receiving the news, Indurkani Thana police arrived at the scene, rescued Hiron, and took him to the station.
Upazila Jamaat Amir Md. Ali Hossain stated, “Locals, furious with Hiron, beat him and handed him over to the police. He had organized a celebratory procession and distributed sweets after the false war crimes verdict against Delawar Hossain Sayeedi. We demand justice for his actions.”
Indurkani Thana Officer-in-Charge Md. Maruf Hossain said, “Locals detained and assaulted Awami League leader Hiron. We rescued him and brought him to the station. There are multiple cases against him, and he will be sent to court on Sunday.”
