Another Arrest Made in Shocking Teen Mahin Murder Case in Fatikchhari

Police have arrested another suspect in the sensational murder case of teenage boy Rihan Mahin (14) in Kanchannagar, Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram. On Friday, police detained Md. Tajul Islam (40) from a relative’s house in the Sundarpur Union of the same upazila.

Tajul Islam is a resident of South Kanchannagar village in Ward No. 5 of Kanchannagar Union, and the son of deceased Badiul Alam.

According to police sources, Tajul's name came up in the confessional statements given under Section 164 by three previously arrested suspects. Based on that information, police launched multiple raids and eventually arrested him.

Speaking about the arrest, Fatikchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Ahmed said, “Tajul Islam has been arrested as part of an ongoing operation. His involvement was revealed through the statements of other arrestees and has been confirmed during the investigation. So far, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the Mahin murder case.”

The brutal incident occurred early on August 22 in Ward No. 5 of Kanchannagar Union, when a mob formed under the suspicion of theft and beat 14-year-old Rihan Mahin to death. Two other teenagers were also seriously injured in the attack and are currently fighting for their lives at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Later that night, Mahin’s mother Khadija Begum filed a murder case with Fatikchhari Police Station. In the case, Nazim Uddin was named the prime accused, along with Md. Noman, Md. Azad Hossain, Md. Taiyob, and Mohiuddin. Additionally, 6 to 7 unnamed individuals were also made accused in the case.

Police have confirmed that operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
