An alleged drug dealer named Rubel, also known as "CD," was critically injured after being attacked with sharp weapons by unidentified assailants in the Cancer Goli area of Rayerbazar, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, on Friday evening around 7:30 PM.
Following the attack, Rubel was rescued in a severely wounded state and initially taken to a private hospital. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment. His condition remains critical, according to attending doctors.
Rubel’s wife, Tamanna, said, “My husband was in Cancer Goli when several attackers suddenly approached and hacked him repeatedly. We rushed him to a private hospital first and then brought him to DMCH. Doctors say his condition is very serious.”
Sub-Inspector Nazmul Alam of the Rayerbazar Police Outpost confirmed the incident. “We are aware of the situation and have begun an investigation. Raids are being carried out to apprehend those responsible,” he said.
He added that the attack may have stemmed from previous enmity, and confirmed that Rubel has multiple drug-related cases filed against him. Authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and arrest the culprits involved in the incident.
