A man named Liton Barua (32) was killed after being crushed under a tempo in the Dholoi area of Chattogram’s Hathazari upazila. The accident occurred on Thursday (July 24) morning near the Kali Bari area along the Hathazari-Nazirhat regional highway.Sub-Inspector Saidul Islam of the Nazirhat Highway Police Outpost said that the body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy after preparing the inquest report. He added that the victim’s family has been informed to confirm his identity and provide further details.
According to eyewitnesses, locals noticed an overturned tempo on the roadside and alerted the police. Upon arrival, the highway police began recovering the vehicle from the roadside ditch and discovered the man’s body crushed beneath it.
The national identity card found in the victim’s pocket identified him as Liton Barua, a resident of Rangunia upazila in Chattogram. Police believe that the accident likely occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the victim was driving towards Nazirhat and lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road into a ditch.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local community.
