Police recovered the body of a woman found hanging in a residential hotel in the Reserve Bazar area of Rangamati town on Sunday night. The hotel manager, Md. Kutub Uddin, has been detained in connection with the incident.According to police, hotel staff discovered the woman’s body hanging from a ceiling fan in one of the rooms around 9:30 PM on Sunday. The door was broken open to retrieve the body. Following the discovery, the hotel manager was taken into custody.
The hotel authorities stated that their register listed the woman’s name as Munna Sarkar, with an address in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. However, a man named Md. Abdul Kader, who arrived from Pahartali, Chattogram, after receiving the news, identified the deceased as his wife, Munna Akter, a mother of one child.
Kotwali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Md. Sahed Uddin, told Prothom Alo that the body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy. Further legal actions will be taken after discussions with the woman’s family.
