In his speech, Hasnat emphasized that the source of power lies solely with the people, not external entities or business groups. “The source of power is not Delhi, Bashundhara Group, or S Alam; it is the people alone. If the people are with us, we don’t need to rely on Delhi, London, or America. We are born and will die in this 56,000 square miles,” he said.
Calling for leadership based on merit, he added, “We will choose leaders who are popular, understand the people’s language, and address their problems. In our country, leaders often emerge before elections with bags of money, buying police and agents. Those who offer money before elections will enslave you for the next five years and act as your masters.”
Hasnat further stated, “We haven’t mortgaged our politics to any business group. We will collect funds from the people—10, 20, or 100 taka—and work for them. When politicians surrender to business interests, policies are made to serve those interests.” Addressing the youth, he criticized the older generation, saying, “They called hypocrisy strategy and lies politics. We will not follow that path.”
The rally was attended by NCP convener Nahid Islam, northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, senior joint member secretary Tasnim Zara, joint member secretary Mahin Sarker, and Meherpur district NCP joint secretary Sakil Ahmed, among others.
