Three Robbers Arrested in Chandpur’s Hajiganj East Market Robbery Case, Trucks and Bolt Cutters Recovered

 Three members of a robbery gang have been arrested in connection with a robbery incident at Hajiganj East Market in Chandpur. The police have also recovered two trucks and bolt cutters used in the robbery. The information was confirmed on Wednesday (30 July) afternoon by Md. Lutfur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) of Chandpur.

The arrested suspects are identified as Md. Sahab Uddin, alias Sabu (48), son of the late Chattar Howlader from Noluabagi area of Galachipa police station in Patuakhali district; Md. Jamal Khan (45), son of Golap Khan from Kalai Kishore area of the same police station; and Ratan, alias Kalu (36), son of the late Babul Mia from Kajipara area of Biral police station in Dinajpur district.

According to police, on the night of 16 June, an unknown group of robbers looted reserved electrical cables stored at the warehouse of SK Cable in Hajiganj East Market. On 18 June, the manager of the company, Harunur Rashid, filed a case at Hajiganj police station naming unidentified members of the robbery gang.

Under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rokib, an investigative team led by Rajib Sharma, police inspector (Investigation) of Hajiganj police station, conducted operations to recover the stolen goods and arrest the suspects.

Using information technology, the police arrested Sahab Uddin from Mohasthan Garh area of Bogura Sadar police station on 28 July. Two trucks and bolt cutters used in the robbery case were recovered from his possession. Based on information provided by Sahab Uddin, the police also arrested Ratan and Jamal Khan from the Kushtia Sadar police station area.

Mohammad Mahyuddin Faruk, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hajiganj police station, stated that the arrested individuals are members of an inter-district robbery gang. Sahab Uddin faces five robbery cases in various police stations across the country, while Ratan has two cases, and Jamal Khan has nine robbery and theft cases filed against them. After initial interrogation, the suspects will be sent to Chandpur court.
