Police in Mahipur, Patuakhali, have recovered the hanging body of a 17-year-old housewife named Marzia Akter. The deceased’s family claims that Marzia took her own life.
On Saturday (July 19) afternoon, the body was recovered from Diyaramkhola village in Latachapli Union. It was later sent to Mahipur Police Station for an autopsy.
Marzia, daughter of Alam Pyada from Purba Alipur village in the same union, was married to her cousin Zahid Pyada a few months ago.
According to Zahid, Marzia’s husband, on Friday night, she asked him to bring her some fuchka (street food). Due to work commitments, he returned home late with fish instead. This upset Marzia. After cleaning the fish, when she started using her mobile phone, Zahid asked her to go to sleep. Angered, she went to sleep on the veranda. The next morning, Zahid woke up to find Marzia’s lifeless body hanging from a beam on the veranda.
Mahipur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmud Hasan said, “The hanging body of a housewife has been recovered. An unnatural death (UD) case will be filed in connection with this incident.”
