Bloodied Body of Expatriate’s Wife Found in Locked Flat

Police in Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria, have recovered the bloodied body of a 26-year-old woman named Shahinur Akter from a locked flat. The incident occurred on Friday (July 18) around 10:30 PM in the ‘Yusuf Molla’ multi-story building near the bridge adjacent to Bancharampur Police Station. The police have described it as a planned murder.

Shahinur Akter, daughter of Gias Uddin from Satbila village in Chhalimabad Union, resided in a rented flat in the Yusuf Molla building.

According to her family, Shahinur married Swapna Miah, a Malaysian expatriate from Safarkandi village in the upazila, nine years ago. Within a year of their marriage, they had a son. A year later, Shahinur developed a romantic relationship with Masud Miah, a Saudi expatriate from Dakshin Para village in Chhalimabad Union. She later divorced her first husband and married Masud.

Local sources reported that a foul smell had been emanating from the flat since Friday evening. Suspecting something amiss, residents and neighbors informed Shahinur’s family and the police. Upon receiving the information, Bancharampur Model Police Station personnel arrived at the scene, broke open the door, and recovered the body.

The building owner, Nazrul Islam, said, “My sister-in-law called me to report a foul smell coming from the flat. After returning home and resting, I checked and found the room locked from the inside. When Shahinur’s mother and sister arrived, we broke the lock and entered. We found Shahinur lying lifeless on the floor, covered in blood.”

Bancharampur Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Jamil Khan said, “This is a planned murder. Preparations are underway to file a murder case at the police station. The body has been sent to the morgue at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.”
