A female student in the eighth grade was gang-raped in the Yarpur area of Ashulia, Savar. Police conducted an operation and arrested three individuals named Abhi, Samir, and Shuv in connection with the incident on Saturday morning. Later that afternoon, they were formally charged under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and sent to court.According to police, in the early hours of Saturday, the victim was lured by Abhi, an acquaintance, to a shop in the Yarpur area. There, Abhi and Samir allegedly took turns raping her, while their friend Shuv assisted in the crime. The victim was released around 4 AM and subsequently went to Ashulia Police Station, where she filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, naming the three perpetrators. Following the complaint, police conducted a raid in Yarpur and arrested Abhi, Samir, and Shuv.
The victim was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a medical examination. Mohammad Abdul Hannan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station, stated, “It is suspected that the girl was raped by multiple individuals. Due to excessive bleeding, she has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a health check-up.” He further confirmed that the three suspects were arrested after the incident came to light and have been sent to court.
