A group of masked and armed criminals abducted a seven-year-old boy from his home in the Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Tuesday night (July 29), sparking panic in the area.The child, identified as Bappi, is the only son of expatriate Sabul Kader, currently residing in Saudi Arabia, and homemaker Shahedia. The abduction took place at their residence in Ward No. 2 of Rangajhiri area under Baishari Union.
According to local sources, the masked assailants stormed into the house late at night, threatened the family members at gunpoint, and forcibly took Bappi away.
The victim’s family claims that the abductors were Bengali-speaking individuals. Following the incident, the family immediately reached out to law enforcement agencies for help. However, as of 11:30 AM on Wednesday, the child remains missing.
Faridul Alam, a local resident and former UP member of Rangajhiri area, stated that the community has been gripped with fear since the incident. He urged authorities to swiftly identify the kidnappers and rescue the child.
Naikhongchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masrurul Haque confirmed the incident and said, "We are taking the matter very seriously and have already launched an operation to rescue the child. Necessary steps are being taken to identify and apprehend those responsible."
