HSC Exams: 43 Students, 4 Teachers Expelled for Malpractice

 

On the fourth day of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, 43 students and 4 teachers (invigilators) were expelled for alleged malpractice. The incidents occurred during exams held on Monday (July 7) under various education boards for subjects including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), English First Paper, Accounting, Chemistry, and Economics. Additionally, 24,303 students were absent from the exams on this day.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee confirmed these details based on reports submitted by the education boards.

According to the reports, 17,416 students were absent for the ICT exam conducted under nine education boards. In the English First Paper exam under the Madrasa Board, 4,889 students were absent. Additionally, 1,998 students did not attend the exams for Accounting Policy Application-2, Chemistry-2, and Economics under the Technical Education Board. Statistical analysis revealed that the Rajshahi Board had the highest number of absentees, with 2,329 students (1.94%) missing the exams. However, the highest percentage of absenteeism was recorded in the Jessore Board, where 2.30% of students did not participate. In the Dhaka Board, 268,752 students appeared for the exams, while 4,465 (1.63%) were absent. In Cumilla, 1,639 students (1.81%), in Dinajpur, 1,555 students (1.62%), and in Barisal, 1,205 students (2.10%) were absent. The Madrasa Board reported a 5.79% absentee rate for the English First Paper exam. Under the Technical Education Board, out of 103,633 students registered for Accounting, Chemistry, and Economics exams, 1.93% were absent. Additionally, students from eight overseas centers under the Dhaka Board participated in the exams, but their data was not included in these statistics.
Notably, the written exams for HSC and equivalent examinations will conclude on August 10, with practical exams scheduled from August 11 to 21.
