In Narayanganj’s Rupganj, a joint operation by law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of three members of a drug trafficking ring, along with drugs and locally-made weapons.On Friday night (July 18) around 11:30 PM, a joint force conducted a raid in the Tarabo area of the upazila based on confidential information. During the operation, they seized 1,327 pieces of Yaba, three tattoos (a type of local weapon), three machetes, one sharp knife, and one ramda (a large cutting tool). However, the main leader of the ring, Nabi Hossain, managed to escape during the raid.
The arrested individuals are Md. Nazmul Hossain (27), son of Nabi Hossain, Nehal Hossain (25), and Sifat Mia (20), son of Md. Monir Hossain, all from the Tarabo area.
Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tarikul Islam stated, “Last night, the joint force conducted an operation and arrested three members of a drug trafficking ring along with drugs and locally-made weapons. A case has been filed against the arrested individuals under the Narcotics Control Act. Our operations to apprehend the main leader, Nabi Hossain, are ongoing.”
