Hafez Md. Ruhul Amin Madani, a local imam, fulfilled his childhood dream of arriving at his wedding in a helicopter, funded by savings from his modest earnings. The grand event, held in Bhobdia village of Barat Union in Rajbari Sadar Upazila, drew crowds of curious onlookers on Sunday, July 20.The wedding took place at noon, with the groom departing from the Abul Hossain Club field in a helicopter to Jhenaidah for the marriage ceremony. He later returned to the same field with his bride, also a Hafez, in a spectacular helicopter landing.
Hafez Ruhul Amin, son of Mosharraf Hossain Helali from Ward No. 1 of Bhobdia village, serves as the imam of Dadshi Mazar Jame Mosque and manages a family-run madrasa. According to local and family sources, Ruhul Amin had dreamed of a helicopter wedding since childhood. To make this dream a reality, he saved diligently from his modest imam salary, supplemented by contributions from his father.
Recalling his aspirations, Ruhul Amin said, “After completing my Hafez studies in Nawabganj, Dhaka, my father asked me what I wanted. I told him I wished to get married by arriving in a helicopter. He assured me that Allah would fulfill my dream. With Allah’s blessings, I’ve now gone to Jhenaidah for my wedding in a helicopter. My wife is also a Hafez.”
His father, Mosharraf Hossain Helali, shared, “My son became a Hafez at age 10. When I asked what he wanted, I thought he might ask for something simple like a bicycle. Instead, he said he wanted to get married in a helicopter when the time came. I promised to support him. When he was ready for marriage, we found a suitable bride in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah. He reminded me of my promise, saying he wouldn’t marry without a helicopter. With his savings of 8,000–10,000 taka monthly from his imam duties and some of my contributions, we made it happen. I’m overjoyed to see his dream come true.”
Barat Union Parishad Chairman Kazi Shamsuddin remarked, “Such a royal wedding has never happened in this village before. Seeing the enthusiastic crowd here feels wonderful.”
The unique wedding has sparked excitement across the area, with Hafez Ruhul Amin Madani’s story of determination and dream fulfillment becoming the talk of the town.
