The interim government’s advisor for the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, Dr. Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, announced that special loans will be provided to remove unfit public transport vehicles from the roads.
Speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the ‘Rapid Pass’ card program for circular buses in Hatirjheel, Dhaka, on Sunday (July 20), the advisor shared this initiative.
He stated, “The government will provide financial grants at concessional interest rates to phase out unfit public transport vehicles from the roads.”
During the event, he also revealed that the ‘Rapid Pass’ card system will soon be introduced across all types of public transport, enabling passengers to pay fares easily and securely.
On the same day, the use of the Rapid Pass was inaugurated for 10 BRTC buses operating on the Gulistan-Shibbaria-Motijheel route via the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. During the launch, BRTC showcased five of these buses.
