The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four individuals, including Yubo League leader Md. Shahin Kazi, alias Pichchi Shahin, known as a close associate of former Mohammadpur commissioner Tarekuzzaman and top criminal Joseph.
The arrests were made during operations conducted on Thursday (24 July) night in various areas, including Mohammadpur, Tejgaon, and Adabar.
On Friday (25 July) afternoon, RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Khan Asif Tapu confirmed the arrests.
The other three arrested individuals are Md. Guddu (38), Md. Shafiqul Islam (48), and Md. Selim (32).
According to RAB, based on confidential information, a team conducted a raid in Mohammadpur’s Saat Masjid area, identifying and arresting Pichchi Shahin (40). Subsequently, separate operations in Krishi Market, Tejgaon Industrial Area, and Basila led to the arrests of Guddu, Shafiqul, and Selim.
During initial interrogations, the arrested individuals admitted to being directly or indirectly involved in various illegal activities aimed at destabilizing the country recently. RAB is verifying the information obtained from them and continuing efforts to apprehend other associates.
RAB also reported that the arrested individuals face multiple charges, including attempted murder, in various cases. They will be handed over to the relevant police stations upon completion of legal procedures.
